there is compiz 0.7.2 and later for ubuntu, just set the following link as a repo in your sources. remove compiz if you have it installed and then install it all from here. got compiz 0.7.4 from it for gutsy.

Never ever I fear, Gutsy is considered as stable and thus doesn’t get upgrades. At best you’ll get it through third party repositories. It’ll however be included in Hardy (0.7.2 packages are already in there)

good, but it still takes forever to logout with compiz fusion on with ati 8.40.4 driver and xgl
